Sally Stapleton: "Photojournalistic Turbulence"Sally Stapleton is the former deputy executive photo editor of The Associated Press. During her tenure as the international editor, Stapleton led a team of Africa-based photographers to two Pulitzer Prizes. Before coming to the AP, she worked as a picture editor for the Minneapolis Star Tribune and The Miami Herald. She also worked at The Boston Globe, where she photographed both the Chilean plebiscite that voted out dictator Augusto Pinochet and the Colombian drug wars. 

In early 2004, Stapleton formed a nonprofit organization with the goal of establishing a media training center for working journalists in Kigali, Rwanda. She has judged several photography contests, including the World Press Photo Awards, the Pictures of the Year Contest and the International Center of Photography’s Infinity Awards. Stapleton has organized and led photography and multimedia workshops in Algeria, Colombia and Rwanda. She received a Fulbright grant in 2002 to work with Rwandan journalists.
